I am an empathetic, warm and hard-working clinician who is passionate about providing high quality psychological support to children, young people, adults and families. My aim is to support individuals to identify and express their inner thoughts and feelings and to gently guide them towards new ways of coping with and reducing distress. I work creatively and flexibly with people of all ages in order to draw upon their existing values, strengths and resilience.
I have been trained in a range of specialist therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative therapy, Family-based therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. Therefore, I am able to draw on a range of therapeutic models to tailor treatment to the individual.
Born and educated in the UK, I completed my first psychology degree at the University of Leeds. Following this, I worked in community NHS and private settings in both therapeutic and research roles before embarking on my Clinical Psychology doctoral training at the University of Surrey. Subsequently, I have worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Evelina London Children’s Hospital and a Post Adoption Support Service. Alongside this, I have worked privately with adults and children presenting with a variety of different mental health conditions. For several years, I have been working with clients within the Corporate Services sector and specifically in consultancy with adults.
In addition to my 15 years of clinical experience, I have a strong interest in research. I have written a number of publications and presented at conferences mainly in the field of developmental trauma and/or feeding and eating disorders. I also enjoy writing about psychological topics in the media as I am passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health difficulties and creating a more open and understanding society.
