Angeline Chan , MA Psych (South Africa)
Clinical Psychologist
I am a clinical psychologist and a relational therapist. I believe in the impact of our relational bonds - both past and present, on our psychological wellbeing. I am comfortable with complexity and strive to provide a culturally sensitive, holistic and empathic space, so that you may experience reprieve from the external world and also your inner self, if need be. This can create a transformative process, where you can make sense of your experience, psychological difficulty and turmoil, find the most apt solution, and gain greater clarity.
Born and educated in South Africa, I have 12 years of experience as a clinical psychologist. I also have a degree in industrial/organisational psychology, and I worked within a corporate setting prior to working as a clinical psychologist. I enjoy facilitating my client's competence in meeting deadlines, navigating ethical dilemmas, and together exploring healthy ways to cope with what at times may seem to be unrelenting expectations.
I have worked with a diverse population of clients and across many settings and contexts. During my time with the Centre for the study of Violence and Reconciliation in South Africa, I worked with survivors of trauma; those who had experienced gross violations to self and human dignity in many forms. My experience also includes having worked with expats in South Africa, where the realities of affluence could present a host of difficulties ranging from guilt, shame, and pressure. In my practice, I focus on creating a safe space for all clients, where judgement can be left at the door. I enjoy working with adolescents (ages 13 years+), adults and couples.
