This is a Free community webinar. It is 45-mins, followed by 15-mins for Q&A and discussion.
Scientific research has proven that regular meditation enhances self-compassion, gratitude, interpersonal relating, physical and mental health and decreases the allostatic load (wear and tear on the body and mind) associated with chronic stress. Yet many people feel it is for ‘someone with a quiet mind’ or ‘someone less busy’ or ‘someone more zen than me’. Mindfulness is so often misunderstood, and the powerful, beautiful and ancient practice of meditation is not brought usefully into everyday lives. The truth is, if you can breathe you can meditate. In this talk we will discuss Mindfulness and how practicing meditation is vital for strengthening the ‘Consciousness Muscle’ – the muscle which enables us to be awake, aware, wise and exercise our power of choice. We will explore how meditation can change the brain and what effects that can have on the mind and body.
